This building was completely abandoned in 1996. The building originally housed the Fleet Training Facility and the Nuclear Power School.
During a routine survey of the building, performed in November 1982, Radium-226 (Ra-226) contamination was discovered.

In the spring of 1996, the base was decommissioned and the shipyard officially closed its doors, thus ending 142 years of United States Navy history.
